The complete transcript of the brand ambassador interview with Maja Schäfer
Kerstin Hoffmann: Hello and welcome to the first edition of the brand ambassador interviews. My name is Kerstin Hoffmann, I am a communications and strategy consultant and founder of the brand ambassador forge. Today I am speaking with Maja Schäfer, Head of Strategic Recruitment at DRK Kliniken Berlin. Hello, Maja.

Maja Schäfer: Hello.

Hoffmann: Yes, Maja, first of all, congratulations on the great award, the HR Excellence Award that you have just received. You are outstanding in strategic recruiting. And you also do a lot with employer ambassadors. And that is the reason why we are talking here today. Thank you for the congratulations. We were very pleased too. What makes a good employer ambassador in your opinion?

Schäfer: The employer ambassador must of course enjoy working for us and be interested in social media. There's no point in forcing someone and saying: Now stand in front of the camera. I don't think it necessarily has to be just pretty young people. Often the prettiest, most tattooed people are chosen. They're always good. But I think you should show normal people, in every age group, weight class and whatever, so that you can simply show: This is us. We are as colorful as life. Visible employees play a big role for you.

Hoffmann: Tell us a little about the actions you took and how they came about.

Schäfer: We have carried out a variety of activities. We have forex data built our new career portal and we wanted to give many, many employees a chance to have their say. We decided on a video format and we always record short three-minute employee videos, which are then integrated into the career portal and career blog and uploaded to social media.

We also stuck large-format posters with our employees on them on our trucks that drive through the city, back and forth between locations. And it's become such a cool campaign because all the employees take selfies with these trucks because they think they're so great. Not just the ones on the trucks, but the other employees too.

And then we also have a nice social media campaign where you send in a selfie and then win a hoodie. And so everyone identifies with these employer ambassadors.

Hoffmann: Great. Does that mean they also post some of it on their own social media accounts?

Schäfer: That's a requirement, so to speak. If you want to have this hoodie, you have to post it on your own social media channels using the hashtag #drkklinikenberlin. Yes, great campaign.

Hoffmann: Let's take a look at one or two of these YouTube videos you made.
