Bounce rate statistics

SiegeMedia analyzed anonymized data from the Google Analytics accounts of our 110-person content marketing agency clients to study bounce rates.
Baseline Bounce Rate
Over 1 billion sessions and over 700 million bounces from all traffic sources were analyzed to calculate an average bounce rate of 50.9% .
Some websites have bounce rates as high as 92% and as low as 10%. For example, the average bounce rate for the tourism industry is 82.6%. However, the average bounce rate for the real estate industry is 40.8%.
Blog Bounce Rate
To dig deeper, we were able to confidently analyze 28 of our client’s blogs, specifically pages with “blog” in the URL path. With this in mind, we were able to analyze over 84 million blog sessions to calculate the average bounce rate for blog traffic:
9,546,646 bounces 84,406,343 sessions = 82.4% bounce rate
In terms of industries, we noticed that e-commerce bahamas mobile database and lifestyle blogs had the highest bounce rates, with some blogs exceeding 90%. On the other hand, blogs in the business, finance, insurance, and real estate niches had lower bounce rates on average.
Some of the most iconic and popular companies on the web today have bounce rates ranging from 50% to over 80%, and perhaps you’ve seen the same numbers on your site. Depending on your industry, site, and other factors, this may be a good bounce rate you can realistically expect.
The absolute lowest bounce rate in our study was 10.04%.
