The relevance of digital tourism

The term digital tourism formally refers to the use of all the most varied digital tools to prepare, organize, manage and enjoy a trip .

If you look closely, then digital tourism is nothing other than the result of the encounter between tourism and digital transformation , which has transformed and continues to transform this sector as it has already done with many others in our economy.

But does this “new sector” – assuming that we can call it a new sector – really have any relevance to the tourism sector in general? To answer this question, we need to clarify a couple of things.

The first is that tourism is an incredibly complex sector , very difficult to measure armenia phone data since the statistics relating to this area never concern "a single sector but a set of services that are also highly heterogeneous". Moreover, tourism can be measured from different points of view: for example from the perspective of supply or from that of demand and is, therefore, assessable through different information sources.

In the first case, the statistics will refer to the capacity and occupancy of accommodation facilities, while in the second case the surveys will be based on information collected directly from travellers, at the borders or through traditional household surveys. The second thing is that these statistics , already volatile and elusive in themselves, are made even more complicated to collect and reorganise due to the recent Covid-19 emergency which has impacted these surveys, distorting them or even interrupting them.
