SEO for Sexshops and Erotic Stores – Success Story

Today, in our success stories, we are going to talk about Vibrashop , an online store of erotic products, with which we started working more than a year ago and which a few months ago, has managed to stand out in its total traffic.
Where did they come from?
After spending several thousand euros a month on Adwords for many months and not seeing a clear return, they decided to hire the services of a freelance SEO consultant, with whom they got off to a good start, but as it was a very large site and difficult to control, they decided to reduce the number of references (a good idea if done well and reviewed), as well as categories and subcategories (a bad idea if the search intentions of users or variants that may arise are not taken into account).
Well, in 99% of the projects with clients, our job consists of creating new categories that are not controlled within the site. For example, if I sell ceiling lamps, I can search for the variants that this keyword has and see the possibilities of adding those terms within the category or, in general, create new subcategories for them, for example: “white ceiling lamp” which has a fairly acceptable volume of searches and which previously did not usually exist within the client’s site.
In this case, the opposite was chosen; the freelance instagram database opted to simplify the site to improve navigation and UX of the site and the more specific subcategories were redirected to the categories, providing these with certain semantic content.
The result? A huge drop in terms and visibility on the Internet, practically at zero.
The drop in terms of positioning in the top 100 (orange graph) and visibility (blue graph) was more than large and they decided it was time to change agencies and luckily for everyone ^^ it was ours.
Work carried out by YoSEO in the short term
The first thing we did was to audit the site and review the logs to detect the requests that Google made to the website and that the old URLs were still being crawled. Since several months had passed since this happened, there was little to salvage from the old site architecture and we decided to create a new one, redirecting all those that existed in the past to the new ones, since there were still signals and requests to them from Google.
It took a few months, but the result was that with this strategy we began to increase the number of keywords and traffic and sales improved again in the following months.
