Russia to introduce personal data leak insurance

Post by mahbubamim077 »

According to Kommersant, in 2025, Russia plans to launch insurance programs against personal data leaks. They will provide compensation payments in the amount of several thousand rubles.

According to the law in our country, personal data (PD) operators are those who collect and process information about citizens: names, passport and biometric data, phone investor data numbers, information about health status, and views on life. Such organizations include clinics, schools, government agencies, banks, and even stores (for example, when a consumer is given a bonus card and enters his or her last name in a questionnaire).

The main buyers of the new policies will be the personal insurance operators.

It is believed that such insurance will benefit large enterprises that store personal data of a large number of people. However, some experts express the opinion that it will be difficult to prove that a leak of personal data occurred in a specific organization.
