Smartphones are clearly ahead of tablets and laptops, handling around 8TB of traffic in 2016, and that figure could rise to 18TB by 2019. Like other conference speakers, Phil stressed that users spend 90% of their time in mobile apps rather than browsers.

There are millions of apps on the market, and the choice is becoming increasingly difficult. At the same time, installing an app does not guarantee that a person will use it: more than half of the apps on the iPod and iPhone remain just icons on the screen.

In Q2 2016, the mobile programmatic buying market saw explosive growth. Demand for advertising placement has grown 30 times compared to 2012. At the same time, CPM prices and the level of competition are growing. In just one month (from May to June), the cost of CPM increased by 8.3%, and the level of competition by 6.7%.

In Russia, relatively little is spent on programmatic advertising: less than 5 billion rubles, while non-automated purchases account for about 15 billion. Phil Gauthier wants to open the programmatic market to our audience, and he discussed it in detail in his report.
